A Maternal Child Health Nurse is a Registered Nurse and Midwife with additional qualifications (in Child, Family & Community Nursing) and expertise in supporting the health, wellbeing, feeding, growth, and development of babies and young children, as well as your wellbeing as a parent. 

 A large part of our role is to support and empower families throughout the early years of parenthood.

My primary service area includes Melbourne's northern and eastern suburbs, with preference given to families located within approximately 40km of Melbourne CBD. Depending on availability and waitlist demand, I may also be able to accommodate families in Melbourne's southern suburbs. Victoria's Maternal & Child Health service can provide a solid foundation of support for families. However, many parents find that scheduled appointments, limited consultation times, and seeing different nurses can make it difficult to receive the personalised support they're looking for.

A Private Maternal & Child Health Nurse offers continuity, flexibility and care tailored to your family's unique needs. Appointments take place in the comfort of your own home, removing the stress of travelling with a baby and allowing support to be provided in your child's natural environment.

Whether you have questions about feeding, sleep, development, behaviour or simply want reassurance, appointments are focused on what matters most to you - not just completing routine checks.

Whether you choose to access council-based services, private care, or a combination of both, private Maternal & Child Health care offers personalised support, flexibility, and continuity of care. It provides the opportunity to build a trusted relationship with a professional who understands your family's unique circumstances and can support you as your child grows and develops.

Every appointment is tailored to your family's needs, but most involve a combination of discussion, assessment, education and practical support.

Depending on your child's age and your goals, we can explore:

• Feeding (breast, bottle with formula or expressed milk, starting solids etc.)
• Growth (by checking your baby or toddler's weight, length/height and head circumference)
• Your wellbeing - specifically focusing on mental health - or any concerns you may have.
• Development & behaviour (completing relevant screening for GP/paediatric/allied health referral if required)
• Sleep & settling 

Unlike a standard clinic appointment, there is time to explore your questions in depth and develop strategies that are realistic for your family.

Appointments take place in the comfort of your own home, allowing support to be provided in your child's natural environment and making it easier to identify opportunities for practical, personalised guidance.

Many families miss Maternal & Child Health appointments for all sorts of reasons - life gets busy, appointments are forgotten, work commitments arise, or sometimes getting out of the house with a baby or toddler simply feels too hard.

A private Maternal & Child Health consultation can provide an opportunity to catch up on your child's growth, development and wellbeing, while also giving you dedicated time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Depending on your child's age, this may include growth measurements, developmental screening, feeding support, sleep and settling guidance, behaviour discussions, and referrals to other services if required.

There is no judgement here. Parenting is busy, and my focus is on meeting you where you are and providing practical, evidence-based support for you and your child, regardless of how many appointments you've attended in the past.

For most expectant parents, I recommend a Continuity Bundle, which includes at least two appointments tailored to your family's needs throughout pregnancy and the early months after birth.

The transition to parenthood can feel overwhelming, and having support from a trusted professional who knows you, your baby and your goals can make a huge difference.
